Jan 28, 2015They are obviously talented musicians, and the music itself is fairly pleasant, but The Lone Bellow does very little to separate themselves from the influx of folk rock/psychedelic rock bands that have sprung up in the last few years, making this album relatively forgettable.

Feb 1, 2015It isn't the breath of fresh air that their first album was but it is still a decent enough follow up. Some of the slower sad songs can get a bit boring and start to sound somewhat generic but there are enough songs that feel like they are unique and separate themselves from the others. I'd say that my three favorite songs from the album are Take My Love, To the Woods, and Then Came the Morning.

Jan 14, 2016The harmonising on Call to War is excellent and I particularly like the short and sweet To the Woods. An enjoyable album.

Mar 16, 2015Dessner has captured performances that have a depth, a soul, a reality to them. Even if you hate country, this is downright good music.

Feb 10, 2015Then Came the Morning is still a solid next step for a promising young band. The songs are catchy and memorable, the musicianship is impeccable, and the production... well, suffice to say that Aaron Dessner should soon find himself an in-demand producer in the folk/Americana world.
