    They are obviously talented musicians, and the music itself is fairly pleasant, but The Lone Bellow does very little to separate themselves from the influx of folk rock/psychedelic rock bands that have sprung up in the last few years, making this album relatively forgettable.

    The harmonising on Call to War is excellent and I particularly like the short and sweet To the Woods. An enjoyable album.

    Dessner has captured performances that have a depth, a soul, a reality to them. Even if you hate country, this is downright good music.

    Then Came the Morning is still a solid next step for a promising young band. The songs are catchy and memorable, the musicianship is impeccable, and the production... well, suffice to say that Aaron Dessner should soon find himself an in-demand producer in the folk/Americana world.
