Bon Jovi and Shanks may not have done much to freshen up the band's sound--they don't take any mid-2010s musical trends into consideration--but that simmering defiance does mean this is the band's liveliest album in years.

The title-track harks back to the spirit of golden-era Bon Jovi, though, and there are dashes of it scattered throughout. [22 Oct 2016, p.68]

Bon Jovi’s first album since guitarist Richie Sambora’s departure doesn’t tear up the old formula.

This House Is Not For Sale is no masterpiece, and while the punchy title track sonically nods to their heyday, most of it is made up of by-numbers pop.

The arena-filling sound that runs through modern music owes something to Bon Jovi, but This House… comes across more like their third-tier spiritual successors, comprised of forgettable dance-rock and schmaltzy slow-burners loaded with endless platitudes and those echoey, staccato guitar lines that bands do when they want to sound big.

The comforting simplicities peddled in tracks like “Reunion” and “Knockout” offer the rock equivalent of Donald Trump, currying favour without getting too specific.

If you are like me and long for the days of New Jersey, KTF, and These Days, you will be disappointed.

That said, this is a good album and worth the purchase. It is 100 times better than What About Now. WAN was by far the worst album of Bon Jovi's career. Simply horrible. I listened to it twice and hate it.

The album has a feel of Have a Nice Day and the Circle. Which isn't a bad thing, it's just not what I would call classic Bon Jovi.

Stand out tracks are This House Is Not For Sale, Living With The Ghost, Knockout, Labor of Love, Born Again Tomorrow, The Devil's In The Temple, and the bonus track of We Don't Run from Burning Bridges.

This album would have been a 10 had JBJ taken songs from Burning Bridges like, A Teardrop to the Sea, Fingerprints, Who Would You Die For, and Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday and replaced New Year's Day, Scars On This Guitar, Reunion, and God Bless this mess.

Phil X does a terrific job on the album, but the album has very little soul. Richie Sambora was the soul of Bon Jovi and he is definitely missed, especially from a vocal perspective.

That all being said, a very good album and I am glad I gave it a chance.

I hadn't even heard of this album coming out until about two days before it came out, and I was pretty excited. I shouldn't have been. WithI hadn't even heard of this album coming out until about two days before it came out, and I was pretty excited. I shouldn't have been. With this album Bon Jovi Continues their descent into worse albums, as their sales a dwindling. This album is a commercial disgrace, dropping from #1 to #39, to #127 in three weeks in the United States, and rightfully so. This album, except for the title track, is badly mixed, bad, bad, bad, also it's horrible. It's just an absolute disgrace to the Bon Jovi name. It drags on for way too long, and has even cheesier lyrics than all Bon Jovi albums put together. I'm feeling a big, fat, juicy 0 on this one. Expand
