Ace Hood came out of nowhere to deliver the most well rounded, engaging gangsta rap album on a major label in some time.

While this isn't a giant leap forward or a stunning diversion from previous releases, Hood's on a roll and it's hard not to welcome the usual power and polish

While none of the songs are straight terrible (except "Bugatti") none leave me feeling like I'd want to leave the CD in my whip on a long trip--it would probably lull me to sleep and I'd crash.

Ace is still aiming for the club on certain tracks. His enthusiasm and rapid-fire flow sound at home over the menacing summer jam “Bugatti” with the warbling hook of Future or on the triumphant “We Outchea”. But on other tracks, like the flimsy Chris Brown-assisted “Rider,” he comes off clumsy and out of place.

Crisp Florida bass beats from producers like DJ Khaled and Boi 1da and sharp guest spots from Lil Wayne and Future keep things rolling, but his big heart keeps it real.

The end-zone dance that is “Bugatti” is far more in keeping with hip-hop’s prevailing mood, and half of this album tries to match it but falls short. But most of the rest of Trials & Tribulations is far darker and more reflective.

Ace Hood fails to deliver on Trials & Tribulations, and with four albums under his belt that have produced similar results, no rapper has arguably done so much and so little at the same time

This is certainly Ace's best project to be released. Although he only really touches on 1 general type of rap (i.e. trap rap, hardcore rap)This is certainly Ace's best project to be released. Although he only really touches on 1 general type of rap (i.e. trap rap, hardcore rap) what he does do he does well. It is always nice to have an artist that can vary their style song after song, it is also something to be respected when an artist realizes that he/she is good at a specific style, then sticks to it. Ace touches on mainly shallow subject matters, with a few deeper lyrics on songs like "Trials and Tribulations". Overall, this was a very good effort from Ace, and I hope to see more of this in the future. Expand

Absolutely Ace's best album to date. His others would be 5's or 6's to me, while this is definitely a step up. When Ace is reflective like heAbsolutely Ace's best album to date. His others would be 5's or 6's to me, while this is definitely a step up. When Ace is reflective like he is in a lot of this album is when he is at his best, but don't get me wrong, songs like "Bugatti" are certainly good songs for being "bangers". Favorite tracks are "Trials & Tribulations", "The Come Up", "Hope", "Pray For Me", and "Have Mercy". Ace is most certainly generic and is, at the end of the day, a weird combination of seemingly every rapper to ever release an album, but he still does that successfully on this album. Expand

When every track is a banger WITH LYRICS, then you know that you're in for a treat. This is absolutely the 2nd best album from Cash MoneyWhen every track is a banger WITH LYRICS, then you know that you're in for a treat. This is absolutely the 2nd best album from Cash Money records. In this album you see Ace have these banging trap beats, while killing it, while being conscious. What else can you ask for? However I do have nit picking problems with this album. The auto tune is annoying, the features are bad, and as fun as the album is, it gets repetitive. Other than that the album is good. So in my mind that's 3 points deducted. Expand

Just like the other albums Ace Hood hasn't really done something extra. But this is just the best version of him. He has been able to tell usJust like the other albums Ace Hood hasn't really done something extra. But this is just the best version of him. He has been able to tell us about he's life story thus far with all the challenges faced in the best way possible. As for the production, it's on point. But their seems not to be any diversity on this one. Same story, same beats, same flow. Afraid it may get boring eventually. Expand
