Slowthai's most raw and emotional performance yet. This album has solidified my love for his music and artistry.

UGLY throws some great bops and some of slowthai's most raw. emotional and unhinged material to date.

a chaotic noisy and sometimes emotional interpretation of mental health, societal struggles, relationships, and finding self worth all coming together in true slowthai form

A raw, emotional album with amazing songs. Slowthai's voice expressing pain and grief gives me chills.

Gave me goosebumps. The way slowthai expresses himself and finally the grungy punk gives it for me a ten. Best punk album since London Calling.

It's really hard to describe this album in words, it has to be felt. It's raw, it's angsty, it's angry, it's painful. He is not holding back at all and in some places messy in the most human and unfiltered way possible.
The way he's able to combine hip-hop with punk, rock and alternative effortessly is mind-blowing.

This is Slowthai's best work to date. He seamlessly fuses post-punk, noise rock and hip-hop and delivers both chaotic bangers and emotionally significant moments. Pitchfork prove once again with their review that they are out of touch and miss the mark more often than not.

It hurts me to say different choices in terms of the production would have made it more accessible, because I respect his intent to be inaccessible here. If I have to sum it up and put a bow on it, I think “UGLY” is an album that will probably be appreciated more 25 years from now than it is today.

The best boundary-pushers use parts of their own style to traverse new musical territory. While tracks like “Sooner” are a success, UGLY doesn’t manage to complete the journey.

UGLY certainly isn’t a pleasant listen, and at various points it’s too extreme to be categorised as rap or rock, but many of these tracks are brilliantly executed and their emotional power and impact put Slowthai in a unique position.
