Definitely not the best Phish album out there, but I'd rank it fifth behind PoN, BB, Junta, Farmhouse. It's a whole hell of a lot better than Round Room and some of the cuts (Scents and Subtle Sounds, Army of One, Undermind) are very good.

  1. A workmanlike effort that won’t do anything to harm the Phish legacy, but isn’t notable enough to make me wish that the band wasn’t packing it in.
  2. It's the fragmented experiments that keep Undermind from being a straightforward batch of songs, and they ultimately provide a much-needed balance.

    Giddily adventurous. [8-22 Jul 2004, p.128]
