A strong four-song start to the album. ... Unfortunately the remaining tracks are somewhat of a mixed bag and instead of straddling the line between country and bittersweet indie pop they all too often cross the line into country. These pleasant tunes don’t have enough sharp dynamics to give them an edge and so end up as mostly fluff without so much substance and represent the reflective mood of the album.

The 10 tracks on her debut are all lovingly crafted, but the languid atmosphere means that they sometimes drift into each other.

Wake Up! may tackle weighty themes of capitalism and power struggles in relationships, but the woozy ambience of its shoegaze and Sixties-inspired pop is not exactly going to propel you into an invigorating new way of life.

A solid debut album of Indie-Pop that will be of immediate delight for people who love soft and calm music to sing about romance and disillusion. With help of the clever Justin Raisen and Ben H. Allen III, Hazel achieves to present an atmosphere of illusion and dream in her Pop without drifting from the attractiveness of Indie that conquers young traveling people who plan the future and remembers the past. Hazel, from Australia, started publishing her music in 2016 when she was 25, and her Shoegaze and Dream-Pop style gave her a wide public. With "Wake UP!", Hazel is a strong contributor to the relevance of Indie and Pop in the future. Hazel English is a bright promise.
