We’re All Alone In This Together truly lives up to the quality expected of Dave’s sophomore album and cements him in time as a fallible but even more forthright voice of UK culture.
  2. 100
WAAITT is a compelling, conscious-jolting account of a life of two halves.

It’s the album that disproves the myth of the ‘Mercury Prize Curse’ and also consolidates Dave’s reputation as one of this country’s most important and impressive young artists.
  4. 100
Always ready to tell the hard truths for those who can’t, Dave has proved again that he’s a voice of a generation, sitting pretty atop his peers when it comes to making unforgettable London rap classics.

He draws on the many splintered facets of UK rap – and other sonic traits besides – while somehow transcending them. Literate, wise, and emotionally devastating, ‘We’re All Alone In This Together’ places Dave at the absolute pinnacle of British music.

Setting such a high bar on your debut can be a poisoned chalice but Dave weathers the storm with his astute penmanship, impeccable musical taste and cool, collected delivery.

At its core, We’re All Alone In This Together is a meticulously constructed, well-balanced rap album. It’s an important landmark, placing Dave high in the best rappers under 25 conversation.

Dave’s Mercury prize- and Brit award-winning debut, Psychodrama, became a classic overnight; now it has a rival for introspection, operatic quality and wordplay. Tender piano arrangements, unadulterated storytelling and sermon-like verses flood this topical album that is part confessional poetry, part social commentary.

Dave makes a potent second statement. His first steps outside of PSYCHODRAMA's concrete sphere of influence continue to cement his generational talent.

WAAITT is a diverse record in many respects: touched by Afrobeats, gospel, electronica, drill and R&B, its most recurring sonic feature is a series of mournful piano figures. The album encompasses many different voices and Dave seems to be making a point of letting his collaborators put their own stamp on his songs.

We’re All Alone in This Together isn’t Dave’s magnum opus. But the best thing is, he’s just getting started. We’re barely past the opening credits.

Dave once again proves that he is the voice of this generation. He uses this album as a perfect opportunity to let us see what is happening inDave once again proves that he is the voice of this generation. He uses this album as a perfect opportunity to let us see what is happening in his mind, as well as speaking for many others who do not have the platform. Unreal lyricism and storytelling, improved beats and atmosphere compared to his debut album, along with improved delivery and cadence. Dave is only 23, but the wisdom he constantly puts out makes that hard to believe and leaves us wondering, what is next? I believe that this man is capable of improving even more and I can not be more excited to see how his career continues to develop. 10/10. Full Review »

This album, absolutely AMAZING!Jesus, I went into this album never even hearing about this so called "Dave" before, and may I say, GOD DAMN! This album, absolutely AMAZING! BEAUTIFUL! This album is a work of art, a Masterpiece if I do say so myself. This album not only introduced me to the artist, but it quickly made him one of my all time favorite artists. Going back and listening to his other albums/ep has only made me love his music more. This album is not a disappointment and I highly recommend you listen to it, you won't regret it Full Review »

Best album of the year, period. Tells a story about UK politics in a way never done before.
