    There's a tragic humanism in these songs that almost recalls "Dead Man Walking".... There's a rare depth beneath his subtle guitar and tired, textured voice, one that resonates beyond any little musical coterie.

    I wanted so badly to give it a 9 based on the title track, which is slow and somewhat sludgy, but damned if I don't just keep coming I wanted so badly to give it a 9 based on the title track, which is slow and somewhat sludgy, but damned if I don't just keep coming back to this one time and time again. It's by far my favorite, exploring themes of religion, murder, relationships, family, and salvation in the twisted, quixotic way that only Dave Bazan can.     This album is very honest lyrically. It's very musically simple, but if you're an indie rock fan you may or may not like this CD. This album is very honest lyrically.
