When all is said and done, this album will be looked at as a turning point for the trio: the moment they went legit.

On Yung Rich Nation, the band of brothers shows it’s reliable enough to deliver hits, but ambitious enough to rise to a challenge.

The group compensates for meager substance with plenty of style and energy, and has enough of both to almost pull it off.

Migos don't glorify the trap, they reflect it, and when the hood doesn't need the trap then there won't be "Trap Funk" any more.

Production-wise, the record includes what are easily some of the least memorable instrumentals that the trio has ever worked with in comparison to their catalogue of freeleases, though the continued emphasis on minimalism gives the rhymes room to breathe.

This album might not propel them to a higher level of fame than they've already reached; while it's solid front to back, there's nothing remotely as unstoppable as 2013's "Versace" or 2014's "Fight Night."

Throughout, tracks will leave you with a noticeably bittersweet aftertaste--although it isn’t exactly lacking in flavor. It’s as though the album is missing a secret ingredient, or doesn’t ever find the right blend.

They have a style, and they stick with it throughout the whole album. The simplistic, bass-heavy beats and comical raps are enough to be entertaining throughout the album, even though missteps like the Chris Brown-featuring "Just For Tonight" don't have much to offer. Regardless, "Yung Rich Nation" is a solid album that gives rap fans something to remember the eccentric trio by. Expand
