Humans have hunted big game for sport for a long time, but now that game is hunting them back.

In a new trailer for Beast, starring Idris Elba, a massive rogue lion is proving it is truly the apex predator. Watch the trailer below.

Beast stars Elba as Dr. Nate Daniels, a recent widow and now single father of two daughters (played by Iyana Halley and Leah Sava Jeffries), who travels with them to South Africa. That is where he first met his wife, and now he wants to show their children the landscape's beauty. They head to a game reserve managed by old family friend and wildlife biologist Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley), but very quickly they learn a lion that has survived poaching is now turning the tables and stalking and attacking people, but notably not eating them.

This makes the lion attacks a rare kind, with characters referring to him as a "devil" in the trailer, and footage showing the CGI lion throwing itself at a car, not unlike how the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park did after a person scrambled to safety inside.

The law of the jungle is all that matters when taking on this animal, but that is not something they may be best equipped to adapt to.

The film, which opens in theaters on Aug. 19, comes from writer Ryan Engle and director Baltasar Kormákur. Will Packer, James Lopez, and Kormákur produce, with Jaime Primak Sullivan and Bernard Bellew serving as executive producers. The film comes from Universal Pictures.
