The latest actor to join the DC Comics world is Dwayne Johnson, and we have a look at him in action in a trailer for Black Adam.

Johnson stars as the eponymous antihero, who was created for the page by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck. The character was first introduced as Shazam's enemy in a 1945 comic but then went on to recur in 1970s books centered on the Shazam Family. When it came to big-screen adaptations, Shazam got his first (in 2019, played by Zachary Levi and earning a Metascore of 71). Now, the film world will better get to know Black Adam.

Black Adam was imprisoned for five millennia before before becoming Shazam's enemy. He shares his name and powers with an ancient wizard.

"What have your powers ever given to you? Nothing but heartache," Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) points out to the titular hero in the trailer, which you can watch below.

Although Black Adam was a slave before he died, his son sacrificed himself to save his father, and now "I kneel before no one," he says.

And he's not afraid to kill.

Black Adam, the movie, will introduce members of the Justice Society of America, as well as the criminal group known as Intergang. It also stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi as Isis, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. In addition, Mo Amer, Uli Latukefu, James Cusati-Moyer, Marwan Kenzari, and Bodhi Sabongui appear in the film.

Jaume Collet-Serra directs the film from a screenplay from Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvan. The film is produced by DC Entertainment, New Line Cinema, Warner Bros., Flynn Picture Company, and Seven Bucks Productions. Johnson produces alongside Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Beau Flynn.
