Erin Gobler

ESPN Plus is a streaming service offered by what's most known as the popular live TV sports network. It's a relatively new service that launched in 2018, allowing subscribers to livestream and recently aired sports, read premium sports articles, watch popular sports specials and documentaries, and more. It comes with a low monthly price, making it accessible to most sports fans.

ESPN Plus has a lot to offer sports fans, and it does it at a much lower price point than other sports streaming services. However, you'll notice in the table above that ESPN Plus is missing a considerable amount of content compared to other sports streaming services. While it has many of the major sports -- including college sports -- it doesn't have NBA or NFL coverage, which are important to many sports fans. That being said, it does have an on-demand library and other sports content that could make up for it for certain viewers.

How much does ESPN Plus cost?

ESPN Plus currently costs just $7/mo., making it one of the most affordable streaming services around. There's just one plan option, meaning you don't have to choose from a complicated plan and pricing structure.

There are also ways to save on your ESPN Plus membership. You can purchase an annual plan, which will save you 20 percent off the monthly plan. Additionally, ESPN Plus is a part of the Disney+ bundle with Disney+ and Hulu. It costs just $14/mo., where you'd normally pay around $22/mo. for all three services separately.

    ESPN Plus content

ESPN allows you to stream many of your favorite sports both live and on-demand for a low monthly price. You'll get access to live sports from many of top leagues and tournaments, including:

    • Soccer: Bundesliga, Emirates FA Cup, MLS, LaLiga, and more
    • Combat: UFC, Top Rank, and PFL
    • College: Football, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, hockey, wrestling, and more
    • Baseball: MLB and Little League World Series
    • Tennis: Australian Open, Wimbledon, US Open, and WTT
    • Golf: PGA Tour, Master's, and PGA Ocean Course
    • More: NHL, Vivo IPL, ICC Men's T20 World Cup, and New Zealand Blackcaps

You'll notice that both NBA and NFL content is missing from the list above. Unfortunately, ESPN Plus doesn't currently carry coverage for these games.

In addition to the live and on-demand sporting events, you'll also have access to the ESPN Plus 30 for 30 library, ESPN Plus Original movies and series, premium articles, daily studio shows, and more.

    ESPN Plus features

    Live streaming and on-demand library
ESPN Plus allows you to watch many live sporting events, which we covered in the previous section. Additionally, you can go back and watch replays after the live events are over.

    Simultaneous streams
Up to three people can stream at the same time from your ESPN Plus. This feature is great for those sharing a plan since multiple users can watch different events on different devices at the same time.

    Offline viewing
Like many streaming services, ESPN Plus allows you to download much of their content when you're connected to the internet, and then watch it offline at a later time. This feature is great for traveling or other times when you won't have a reliable internet connection.

    ESPN Plus supported devices

ESPN Plus can be streamed on many popular devices. A full list of supported devices is:

    • Roku players and TV
    • Fire TV and tablet
    • iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV
    • Samsung Smart TV
    • Android phone, tablet, and TV
    • Playstation 4 and 5
    • Xbox One and Series S|X
    • Chromecast
    • Oculus Go
    • Xfinity Flex and X1

    Is ESPN Plus worth it?

ESPN's standalone streaming service is relatively new to the market, but it's already become popular among sports fans. At just $6/mo., we'd say this service is worth it for most sports fans. It offers a wide variety of live and on-demand content. And while it's missing NBA and NFL coverage, the $6/mo. cost makes it easy to pair with another live TV service that allows you to stream those games. However, it's definitely not a replacement for your other sports streaming services.
