The third season of Apple TV+'s space race drama For All Mankind is getting extra topical by taking on the subjects of a space race to Mars and private citizens in that galactic exploration.

In a just-released trailer from the streamer, which you can watch below, there is a "historic opportunity" to get the first footsteps on Mars, and this time it's a three-way race, with America determined not to come in second place again. (In this alternate-history tale, Russia beat the U.S. to the moon.) But the idea of potentially discovering life on another planet is even bigger than bragging rights. As the trailer explains, "it will change the concept of who we are."

But nothing about getting to Mars will be easy, from the interpersonal dynamics and loyalties that get tested, to technical issues and unexpected visibility challenges with the terrain.

For All Mankind stars Joel Kinnaman, Shantel VanSanten, Jodi Balfour, Sonya Walger, Krys Marshall, Cynthy Wu, Casey Johnson, Coral Peña, and Wrenn Schmidt. Edi Gathegi joins them in the third season as Dev Ayesa, and he can be seen in the trailer discussing the idea of regular people taking part in space exploration, as his character has his eyes on the stars.

"Being first is what it's all about," Dev says in the trailer.

Ronald D. Moore, Ben Nedivi, and Matt Wolpert created the show, with Nedivi and Wolpert serving as showrunners. All three executive produce alongside Maril Davis, David Weddle, Bradley Thompson, and Nichole Beattie. The show is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

Season 3 launches on June 10 with its first episode, followed by one new episode every Friday up to and including the finale on Aug. 12.

Thus far, For All Mankind has a 67 Metascore.
