The 'Girls5eva' Season 2 trailer previews the girl group back in the studio, on stage, and on the set of a music video.
'Girls5eva' Season 2
PeacockThe women of Girls5eva are officially in album mode in a new trailer for Season 2 of the Peacock musical comedy, and they have to deliver that album fast.
"I know people over 30 tend to have other things in their lives," they're told in the trailer, which you can watch below. But that shouldn't be a problem, as Wickie (Renée Elise Goldsberry) is ready to do anything to be back on top, while Summer (Busy Philipps) has a kid "but she never talks to me so I'm v. avail," she notes.
Things may be a little more complicated for Dawn (Sara Bareilles), who does prioritize her family, and Gloria (Paula Pell), who not only has a successful dentist practice but is seen in a relationship in the trailer (and seen with a new injury in some new photos, also below). But, as their new single previews, they've got "momentum."
After one of their 1990s tracks was sampled by a modern rapper in the first season, the four women still standing from the eponymous 1990s girl group set out to make a comeback. And this time they are doing it on their own terms after realizing their former manager and many of their lyrics were problematic — for more reasons than one.
"Half our old weren't even spell-checked," Wickie says in the trailer, which then cuts to a flashback clip of the previous five-person group singing, "We don't want no average Joe, so you better be rollin' in some Doug."
The trailer offers glimpses at the women attempting to drum up more excitement for their album by delivering a mini, at-home concert on Instagram Live. It also introduces their new producer and shows them back in the studio, on the set of a music video, and on stage "to make the most undeniable album of all time." So, you know, no pressure.
"You wrote all of the songs on the album, so if everybody hates it, it means they hate you as a person on every level," Summer tells Dawn.
Yeah, no pressure.
