Emma Thompson plays a woman who is looking for a sexual awakening post-marriage in the upcoming feature film, Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, and you can follow her on her comedic but connective journey in a new trailer, below.
Thompson plays Nancy Stokes, a woman who says nuns have more sexual experience that she does in the trailer. So, she hires a young sex worker who calls himself Leo Grande (played by Daryl McCormack) to gain new experience.
"I've made a list of things I'd like to get through," she tells him upon first meeting. "No. 1, I perform oral sex on you. No. 2, you perform oral sex on me. No. 3, we do a 69, if that's what it's still called. Four, me on top. Five, doggy-style. Have I booked enough time?"
But it's not just about physical intimacy, as Leo appears intrigued by Nancy, and the two spark a connection. They drink, they dance, they confide in each other.
"You're the only adventure I've ever had," Nancy tells Leo.
The film, which premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and already has a 76 Metascore from reviews out of that festival, is written by Katy Brand and directed by Sophie Hyde. It is produced by Debbie Gray and Adrian Politowski, and will be released theatrically in the U.K. and digitally on Hulu in the U.S. on June 17. Lionsgate distributes internationally, while Searchlight Pictures distributes domestically.
