Issa Rae's latest comedy is titled Rap Sh!t and it's coming to HBO Max July 21.

The first two episodes of the eight-episode season will drop at launch, followed by one episode weekly up to and including the finale on Sept. 1. See a sneak peek at the new show in a just-released teaser below.

In Rap Sh!t, Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion) are estranged high school friends from Miami, Fla. who reunite to form a rap group. The teaser sees them coming up with the idea to form this group while freestyling in a car, and from there things seem to take off fast, full of fast cars (and jet skis), dancing in clubs, posing on the red carpet, and performing on stage.

"We're in the middle of a bad bitch renaissance," the teaser says.

But if anyone knows the music industry, it can't be all fun and games, or an easy ride to the top.

The show also stars Jonica Booth, Devon Terrell, and RJ Cyler. Rae executive produces alongside showrunner Syreeta Singleton, Montrel McKay for HOORAE, Jonathan Berry and Dave Becky for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Deniese Davis. Rae also serves as a writer on the show, writing the premiere episode and co-writing the finale with Singleton. Yung Miami and JT of City Girls, Kevin "Coach K" Lee and Pierre "P" Thomas for Quality Control Films, and Sara Rastogi for HOORAE serve as co-executive producers. Rae's audio content company Raedio is in charge of the music supervision.
