Zachary Levi in 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods'
Warner Bros.Shazam (Zachary Levi) is having an existential crisis in the trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
"I don't deserve these powers, if I'm being honest. What am I even contributing?" Shazam wonders in the trailer, which you can watch below. He compares himself to The Flash, Aquaman, and Batman, and he feels he comes up short.
So it's a good thing he has a core group of friends around him, friends that have become family.
Set to Eminem's "Business" from The Eminem Show album which just hit its 20th anniversary and received a special re-release edition in honor of that milestone, the trailer eventually sees him having to team up with his friends, who also happened to receive superpowers, which initially made him feel less special, but now will come in very handy. The have to face down Hespera, the daughter of Atlas (played by Helen Mirren), who is upset these regular people have claimed the gods' powers.
Hespera isn't on her own either, and the help she has includes a dragon, but Shazam isn't worried because he has "seen all of the Fast & the Furious movies. It's all about family."
Whether his can take on hers will result in a fight of the ages, as all DC Comics films thus far have proven.
The movie also stars Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Zegler, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, Ian Chen, Ross Butler, Jovan Armand, D.J. Cotrona, Marta Milans, Victor Vásquez, and Lucy Liu. David F. Sandberg directs from a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is the sequel to 2019's Shazam!, which has a Metascore of 71. The new film is in theaters Dec. 21.
