Dish Network-owned, Sling TV is one of the most affordable over-the-top (OTT) streaming providers available. It gives viewers a less expensive option than what they'd pay for cable, satellite TV, or many other similar streaming services. The service is best for people who love to watch entertainment channels.

Read on to see a full list of available Sling TV channels so you can decide if the service is a good match for you.

What is Sling TV?

Sling TV is a streaming service that offers both live TV and on-demand programs. With a starting price of $35/mo., it's one of the more affordable live TV streaming services available. Sling TV doesn't offer a free trial, but its two package options — Sling Blue and Sling Orange — are each $35/mo. You can also opt to have the entire package by combining the two for $50/mo.

Sling Blue has more than 40 channels and is a great option for people interested in news, pro football, and entertainment programming. With this package, you can stream on up to three devices at the same time. Sling Orange comes with more than 30 channels and is geared to sports fans and families. With this package, you can only stream on one device at a time.

If you want the entirety of Sling TV's live channel offerings, you can choose the combined Sling Orange & Blue package, which has more than 45 channels. You can also simultaneously stream on up to three devices. Also, each package comes with a 50-hour cloud DVR, which you can upgrade to DVR Plus for 200 hours of recording space at an extra $5/mo.

Sling TV offers a wide selection of premium channel add-ons and channel bundles for an additional cost each month. In addition to Epix, Showtime, and Starz, some of these premium channels include BET+, TCN+, CuriosityStream, Docurama, Hallmark Movies Now, and more.

Sports channels with Sling TV

Sling TV is somewhat limited in its offerings of sports channels, but it does include some of the most popular. Sling Orange offers four sports channels — ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, and MotorTrend — while Sling Blue has two sports channels — FS1, and NFL Network

Each plan has a Sports Extra package for $11/mo. The Sling Orange Sports Extra package comes with 14 channels, including ACC Network, ACC Network X, beIn Sports, ESPNews, ESPNU, Longhorn Network, MLB Network, MLB Strike Zone, NBA TV, NHL Network, Pac 12 Network, SEC Network, SEC Network+, and the Tennis Channel.

The Sling Blue Sports Extra package, which is also an extra $11/mo., comes with 12 additional channels — beIn Sports, Big 10 Network, FS2, MLB Network, MLB Strike Zone, NBA TV, NBC Golf Channel, NFL Red Zone, NHL Network, Olympic Channel, Pac 12 Network, and the Tennis Channel.

It will cost $65/mo. to get all of the sports channels on Sling TV. This includes the combined Sling Orange & Sling Blue package for $50/mo. and the combined Sports Extra package for an additional $15/mo.

Each of these channels may be subject to local blackout restrictions, so it's possible some games may not be available.

Local channels with Sling TV

Local channels are not usually available with a Sling TV login. However, in select markets, FOX and NBC may be offered. To access local channels, you'll need to purchase a separate HD antenna. Sling TV has a few deals available on its website.

How do Sling TV channels compare?

Of the other popular live TV streaming services, including Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, fuboTV, and DIRECTV STREAM.

Sling TV is the most affordable, but also offers the fewest channels. The basic package for each of these four other services is $70/mo., but those services also provide more channels. DIRECTV STREAM has more than 75 channels, Hulu + Live TV has more than 85 channels, YouTube TV has more than 85 channels, and fuboTV has 125 channels.

For entertainment channels

Sling TV does a good job in the entertainment category, offering about 30 channels. Among the most popular are A&E, AMC, Comedy Central, FX, Lifetime, Syfy, TBS, TNT, and USA. However, neither HBO or Univision are included with either of Sling TV's packages.

Sling TV offers several entertainment add-on bundles, each one costing $6/mo. These include Comedy Extra, Heartland Extra, Hollywood Extra, and Lifestyle Extra.

For sports fans

Sling TV is not a great choice for diehard sports fans, as there are only six sports channels included in either Sling Orange or Sling Blue. However, those six channels are among the most popular and most important ones: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, FS1, MotorTrend, and NFL Network.

Many of the league-specific channels, such as MLB Network, NBA TV, and NHL Network, are included in one of the two Sports Extra Packages. But another drawback to Sling TV's sports offerings is its lack of regional sports networks, which can make it hard to watch local baseball, basketball, and hockey games.

For newsworthy channels

While Sling TV has the most popular news channels, it only offers seven in total. These are BBC, Bloomberg, CNN, HLN, Local Now, MSNBC, and more.

However, Sling TV does have a News Extra package for $6/mo. Channels included in the Sling Orange package are BBC World News, CGTN, Headline News, Law & Crime, News18, NewsNation, SCI, and W.

Available in the Sling Blue News Extra package are BBC World News, CGTN, CNBC, Law & Crime, NDTV 24x7, News 18, NewsNation, SCI, and W.

For kids

Sling TV is also a bit lacking in its kids' channels, only providing the most popular — Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, and Nick Jr. Other live TV streaming providers have a more robust selection.

However, Sling TV does offer a Kids Extra package for Sling Blue and Orange subscribers for $6/mo. Channels available include Baby TV, Boomerang, Disney Junior, Duck TV, Nick Toons, and Teen Nick.

Overall value for price

If you're looking for a basic live TV streaming experience at a moderate price, Sling TV — starting at $35/mo. — may be the way to go. It's a great option for people who don't need a lot of channels or someone who's looking for only a specific selection of channels.

However, if you start adding a lot of the add-on options to your plan, your total bill could quickly surpass what you'd pay for Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, fuboTV, or DIRECTV STREAM. The combined Sling Orange and Sling Blue package ($50/mo.), DVR Plus ($5/mo.) and one of the Sports Extra packages ($11/mo.) comes to a total of $66/mo., more than the price for some of the other services — with fewer channels included.

Does Sling TV's channel list beat the rest?

One of the biggest benefits of Sling TV is that it allows subscribers the opportunity to customize their package. So, while the channel selection in the basic packages is more limited than the other services, subscribers aren't as likely to pay for channels they'll never watch.
