Paramount+ released a teaser for its next Star Trek universe-set series, subtitled Strange New Worlds, which premieres on the service on May 5 and then drops each of its 10 episodes weekly on Thursdays.
Narrated by series star Rebecca Romijn (who plays Number One), the teaser notes that visits from the stars often seem like material from children's stories and science fiction. Until you are faced with them head-on. Glimpses of spacecrafts zipping by, low to the ground, and Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) gazing out his own ship window feature in the video, which you can watch below.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds follows Pike as he mans the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise, exploring the titular new worlds around the galaxy, in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the ship. The show also stars Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock, Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La'an Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Cadet Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas, and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M'Benga.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. Executive producers are Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet, Henry Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, and Aaron Baiers. Goldsman wrote the series premiere script from his story with Kurtzman and Lumet. He also serves as co-showrunner alongside Alonso Myers.
