Strap in for "a journey beyond what is possible": Walt Disney Animation Studios just dropped a teaser trailer for its forthcoming action-adventure film Strange World.

The movie, which comes from director Don Hall, co-director and writer Qui Nguyen, and producer Ron Conli, follows Searcher Clade, who is voiced by Jake Gyllenhaal. Searcher is part of a family of explorers "whose differences threaten to topple their latest (and by far most crucial) mission," according to the the notes on the film that the studio sent to press. They live in a world where there is a treacherous land inhabited by fantastical creatures that await these explorers.

The teaser, which you can watch below, offers first looks at some of these creatures, which seem most inspired by dinosaurs and underwater animals.

The movie will take viewers through a journey of space and time as Searcher, who doesn't consider himself an explorer like his intrepid family members, will find himself in amazing situations (alongside his trusty canine companion) and have to tap into an inner strength to make history.

The movie is inspired by pulp images, as you can see in the teaser, which starts in old-fashioned black and white, with big, bombastic text across the screen, as well as equally enthusiastic narration. But quickly things turn more colorful, and a bit more modern, as the actual animation style of the film is the three-dimensional, computer-generated kind kids today are accustomed to.

Strange World will be released on Nov. 23, just in time for Thanksgiving weekend.
