Amazon Prime Video released a teaser for its upcoming adaptation of Jenny Han's The Summer I Turned Pretty, and it features Taylor Swift's "This Love (Taylor's Version)."
The drama, like the book series that Han published between 2009 and 2011, centers on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers. But, it's really a multigenerational drama, so it also explores the complicated relationships between mothers and their children, and the power of strong friendship (especially of the female variety). And of course, it focuses on a very important summer — one during which the girl (Belly, played by Lola Tung) at the center of that love triangle vows to make it like none other, as you can see in the teaser below.
And while you can hear a snippet of Swift's song in the teaser, the exclusive first full listen will be available May 6 at midnight ET.
The show also stars Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Alfredo Narciso, Minnie Mills, Colin Ferguson, and Tom Everett Scott.
Han and Gabrielle Stanton serve as showrunners, with Han writing the pilot episode. That duo executive produces alongside Karen Rosenfelt, Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Nne Ebong. The series is a co-production of Amazon Studios and wiip.
Prior to The Summer I Turned Pretty, Han's To All the Boys I've Loved Before book series was turned into a series of films for Netflix. The first in that series has a 64 Metascore, while the sequel, which is subtitled PS: I Still Love You, has a 54 Metascore. Rounding out the trilogy is To All the Boys: Always and Forever, which actually has the highest Metascore, with a 65. A spin-off series will soon follow.
