Aristocratic Englishwoman Lady Cornelia Locke (Emily Blunt) heads West in the late 1800s (to Wyoming, specifically) and gets a rude awakening about American violence and murder when she does. Get a first look at Prime Video's The English in a new teaser trailer below ahead of the shows Nov. 11 premiere.
From Hugo Blick, The English follows Lady Cornelia as she meets up with Pawnee ex-cavalry scout Eli Whipp (Chaske Spencer) to travel together. Although they appear to have very different lives from the outset, the series will reveal that they actually have a shared past. As they travel, they are tested physically, emotionally, and psychologically, especially as they catch wind of a series of unsolved murders in the Wyoming town they both set their sites on settling in.
"There's just something about this country. I sometimes wonder if there's horror in us all," Lady Cornelia says in the minute-long teaser that features glimpses of that horror, from gunslinging to hanging corpses.
Stephen Rea plays the local Wyoming sheriff Robert Marshall, Valerie Pachner plays a Wyoming widow named Martha Myers, and Rafe Spall, Tom Hughes, Toby Jones, and Ciarán Hinds also star.
Blick created the series and serves as an executive producer, writer, and director. Other executive producers are Blunt and Greg Brenman for Drama Republic, while Colin Wratten serves as a producer. The series is produced by Drama Republic Ltd. and Eight Rooks Ltd. and is a co-production between Amazon Studios and BBC, in association with All3Media International.
All six episodes of The English will launch in the binge format on Nov. 11.
