From creators and showrunners Regina Hicks and Wanda Sykes, The Upshaws is a multi-camera sitcom that follows the titular blended, working class family. Mike Epps stars as Bennie, the patriarch of the family who works as a mechanic, opposite Kim Fields, who stars as Regina, the matriarch of the family. Together, they have three children, but they are also raising a child he fathered with another woman (played by Gabrielle Dennis). As if that isn't complicated enough, Sykes also stars as Lucretia, Regina's sister who also happens to own the shop where Bennie works.
In the second season, they are adjusting to another young child in the family, as the first season ended on the cliffhanger of a young girl coming to the house and asking to meet Bernard. Since Bennie has cheated on Regina before, their relationship will be strained by fears he is doing it again and by Lucretia, who butts heads with Bennie over many more things.
The first half of Season 2 of The Upshaws consists of eight half-hour episodes dropping at once in Netflix's usual binge model. The series also stars Page Kennedy, Diamond Lyons, Khali Daniya-Renee Spraggins, Jermelle Simon, and Journey Christine. Hicks, Sykes, Epps, Page Hurwitz, and Niles Kirchner serve as executive producers.
The Upshaws thus far has a Metascore of 57.
