If you watched Season 1 of Amazon Prime Video's The Wilds, you know how hard it was for the teenage girls left to their own defenses after surviving a plane crash they left them stranded on a desert island (that was really all a part of a carefully manipulated social experiment). Now, get a sneak peek at what such a social experiment has been like for the island full of teenage boys in a similar scenario in a trailer for Season 2.

"We all started wanting to be things," one of the boys says in the trailer, which you can watch below. "We wanted to be men. But the truth is, some of us were becoming monsters."

The first season finale of The Wilds exposed the social experiment aspect of the desert island experience to the audience, while also introducing the fact that the mysterious Dr. Gretchen Klein (Rachel Griffiths) had been running the same experiment concurrently on a different island, with the opposite gender. Arguably, the experiment with the boys might have been going better, at least in that they were still being monitored on the island while the mole among the girls was exposed and they were brought into Gretchen's facility to be interrogated about their experience.

But just because they were pulled off the sand for a time, does not mean their story ends. Season 2 will explore more of the girls' time on their own island, in addition to the boys' experience. It is not clear from the trailer if the post-rescue interrogation that served as a story device to switch character perspectives from episode to episode in Season 1 will be a continued arc in the season, however.

"Once upon a time, two plane crashes were staged," the trailer narration explains. "All of the victims were dosed and stranded on two islands, eight on one, eight on the other — though that number was subject to change."

The second season promises double the drama and tension as each group fights for survival while being watched by Gretchen and her team. Whether they will come together to find a way out of the experiment, or whether they will just come to blows against each other, remains to be seen when the season premieres on May 6. However, the trailer does tease a meeting between the two groups.

The Wilds Season 2 also stars Sophia Ali, Shannon Berry, Jenna Clause, Reign Edwards, Mia Healey, Erana James, Sarah Pidgeon, Charles Alexander, Zack Calderon, Nicholas Coombe, Alex Fitzalan, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Aiden Laprete, Tanner Rook, Reed Shannon, David Sullivan, and Troy Winbush.

The Wilds is created by Sarah Streicher, who executive produces alongside showrunner Amy Harris, the late Jamie Tarses of FanFare, and Dylan Clark of Dylan Clark Productions. The series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and ABC Signature. Season 1 earned a 76 Metascore from critics.
