Neil Patrick Harris in 'Uncoupled'

Don't let the above image from Netflix's Uncoupled fool you: Neil Patrick Harris' journey to being happy to walk the New York City streets alone doesn't come easily. Get a glimpse of what we mean in the trailer for the forthcoming comedy below.

Harris stars as Michael Lawson, a successful real estate agent with a supportive family, close friends, great professional partner (played by Tisha Campbell), and a long-term romantic partnership with Colin (Tuc Watkins). Until he doesn't. While the majority of his perfect life elements remain intact, Colin blindsides Michael by moving out on the night he turns 50 years old.

After almost two decades of being in a committed relationship, Michael suddenly finds himself single again. He plans to throw himself into work, which is easier said than done due to a high-profile and demanding new client (played by Marcia Gay Harden), but it won't be long before he jumps (or at least dips a toe) back into the dating world.

The journey will be winding and full of misdirections, but Michael's heartbreak will heal, especially thanks to his friends pushing him to get out there, and propping him up when he falls. Literally.

The show also stars Brooks Ashmanskas and Emerson Brooks, with André De Shields, Colin Hanlon, Dan Amboyer, Gilles Marini, Jay Rodriguez, Nic Roouleau, and Peter Porte guest-starring.

Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman created Uncoupled, which is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Darren Star Productions, Jeffrey Richman Productions, and Jax Media.

The eight-episode season streams July 29 on Netflix.
