'Wendell & Wild'
NetflixScheming demons team up with a teenager in Netflix's Wendell & Wild, a forthcoming stop-motion animated film from Henry Selick and Jordan Peele. See how she handles getting involved with the evil underworld in a first-look clip from Geeked Week, below.
The movie follows the eponymous demon brothers (voiced by Keegan-Michael Key and Peele, respectively) enlisting the help of 13-year-old Kat to summon them to the Land of the Living. Kat presents as a tough kid, but she has a lot of internal guilt, and what she demands from them in exchange for her assistance is the impetus of the adventure of the movie.
The clip sees Kat encountering a glowing, green element in a desk drawer in her school's science department. As the drawer shakes, she grabs a ruler to pry it open and is faced with ... a stuffed bear with glowing green eyes. But not just any bear, one she appears to know.
The clip does not yet introduce either titular character, but we know that will be coming soon enough with a longer trailer.
Selick directs from a screenplay by Peele. They produce alongside Ellen Goldsmith-Vein for The Gotham Group and Win Rosenfeld for Monkeypaw. Lindsay Williams and Eddie Gamarra for The Gotham Group, Kamil Oshundara, and Ian Cooper for Monkeypaw executive produce.
The movie also features the voices of Lyric Ross, Angela Bassett, James Hong, Tamara Smart, Natalie Martinez, Tantoo Cardinal, Gabrielle Dennis, Igal Naor, David Harewood, Maxine Peake, Ramona Young, Sam Zelaya, Seema Virdi, Gary Gatewood, and Ving Rhames.
