Hi – I'm Chris Dane.

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be a performer. It's who I am and what I live for.

My parents tell me I've been singing since before I could talk. When I was about 6 years old, I got a little toy keyboard, the kind with the keys that light up when you press them. I was fascinated with it. It became my instant favorite toy. I loved that I could pick out melodies and sing along.

Six months later, after my mom heard me playing the melody for "Ode To Joy" from Beethoven's 9th symphony, she and my dad got me a bigger "real" keyboard and piano lessons.
I discovered acting through musical theater. My 3rd grade class went to see "Fiddler on the Roof", and it opened up a whole new world for me. I wanted to be up there, on that stage. I started taking classes with the musical theater academy. Once I got to experience the thrill of acting, singing and dancing in front of a live audience – that was it, I was hooked for life.

I performed in "OLIVER!", "The Little Mermaid", "The Wiz" and a variety of other great shows and musical stage revues. I sang and played piano and keyboards every chance I got. I started to really study acting, both stage and film techniques. I was having a blast, loving every minute of all of it.

Then, in November 2001, my life changed dramatically.
My family was living in Austin, TX when a casting team for the Best New Talent Awards came to town. I auditioned, and was selected to compete in four of their performing categories, including singing, acting and instrumentalist. The casting teams auditioned more than 40,000 people all across the U.S., and selected only the top 100 people in each performing category to compete at the national finals competition in Los Angeles.

It was an incredible experience – seeing so many really talented people in one place. Nobody was more stunned than I was when I won first place as best new young singer and best new instrumentalist in America in 2001. After I won, people started telling my family that LA was the best place for me to begin to pursue my dreams of a performing career.

I am blessed with parents who are 100% supportive of me and my dreams. About 6 months after I won Best New Talent, they sold our home in Austin, packed up everything and moved us all to LA. I know it wasn't an easy decision for them, and I will be grateful to them forever.

I've gotten to do a lot of cool things since arriving here in California, including TV and movie soundtracks, voice over work (acting and singing on tape or for animated characters), and sharpening my acting and auditioning skills.

Lately, I've started writing more of my own music. It's how I can express my deepest thoughts and emotions, and communicate them in a beautiful way that I hope brings people joy.
And that is, after all, my goal in life: to bring joy to people all over the world through performing for them!
