Robert Emmett Tansey
Biography: A true "renaissance man" of the "B"-picture genre, Robert Emmett Tansey entered films as a general purpose actor in 1911. During subsequent decades, Tansey functioned as art director, production manager, assistant director, and director. He concentrated on directing from 1931 to 1948, sometimes billing himself as Robert Emmett. Specializing in westerns, he worked with most of the major cowboy stars, and not a few of the minor ones. From 1938 to 1946, Robert Emmett Tansey also produced and co-wrote many of his directorial efforts.
