No one can be painted with broad strokes, and to anyone accusing the show of trying to be woke, 9-1-1: Lone Star is enthusiastically nodding and smiling that yes, that is exactly what's happening.
9-1-1: Lone Star is my 3rd favorite new TV show of 2020 and one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I loved how they made sure to showcase characters from all different backgrounds so, that no matter who was watching there could be a character they could relate to. The writing was stupendous, I loved how they made sure to write characters from all different backgrounds and characters with all different types of struggles and traumas and I loved how raw and emotional the writing was. The acting was outstanding especially from Liv Tyler, Sierra McClain, Ronen Rubinstein, Jim Parrack, Lyndsy Fonseca, Rob Lowe, Natacha Karam, Brett Rice, Natalie Zea, Brian Michael Smith, and Billy Burke also Barry Corbin's guest role was great. I loved this first season and it was a for sure A+ and I can not wait for next season.
A good show so far! I, as a Texan, have few issues with it, because I have enough common sense to know that people that are not white, cisgendered, hetero, christians exist -- and exist in Texas! (Not to mention, the whole idea of the show is that a man is asked to bring in a diverse group of good firefighters, and he does. It's not "representing" TX, it's just a story about people who now live in TX.)
9-1-1: Lone Star isn’t misbegotten: Its bones, coming as they do from its forerunner series “9-1-1,” are solid, and aspects of its conceit are sweet, if at times so utopian as to defy belief.
Is it great TV? Maybe not, but it’s sure easy to watch, a quick hour to distract you from your problems mostly through sheer adrenaline. It’s hard to believe anyone who likes the original iteration won’t take to this one. Lowe and Tyler are more than charming enough and the supporting cast is strong too, but they’re really just cogs in the grand machine of escapist television.
Sticks close to the original in tone, but, oooof, it suffers from a clunky introduction. ... The exposition is heavy-handed, the justifications for some plot twists are dubious and the dialogue often laughable. It’s just so on the nose.
This show is far superior to the original in every way because of its inclusiveness. It's hilarious that people are complaining about the show being woke as if that's a bad thing.
Personification of the inevitable mutilation of the corpse of Fox under the knife of Disney. Devoid of any edge Fox was once known for, this is just flavorlessly bland cud to fill time. Even if you watched 911, this is a definitive step down in every aspect.
I love the original 911 show , so i was surprised I was so disappointed with how slow this show drags along and lack of quality... First do we really need to have another cancer show right on episode one.??
Liv Tyler had some good roles in her movies like Armageddon, but for this show , she is not a good fit and they need to find a way to exit her character ASAP. Rob Lowe, who I usually love , for some reason isnt up to his usual standards either...find some characters who are enthusiastic about their roles and better written plots so we can all stay awake during the show please, I would hate to see a show with good potential become history.
This show seems obsessed with checking as many inclusivity boxes as possible. Storylines are then built around this and the characters are really just stereotypical caricatures. I really wanted to like this show but it's pushing a politically correct agenda at the expense of good stories. Nothing wrong with a diverse cast but it shouldn't be so forced and disingenuous.
