It is a must-watch doc. ... The enduring impression of this film isn’t of the interested actors who found it convenient to use Norma McCorvey — it’s of McCorvey herself.

In McCorvey, this slight film introduces a character well worth knowing even aside from the history she made, but simply for her grace.

AKA Jane Roe is constructed like a mystery, building toward a previously unseen interview with the late Norma McCorvey -- made famous by the abortion-rights case Roe v. Wade -- that she describes as her "deathbed confession." But the documentary is most intriguing as a profile of a woman who spent time as a lightning rod for both sides of the most divisive of political issues.

AKA Jane Roe is both a must-see film as well as a deeply frustrating one. ... But if AKA Jane Roe is a fascinatingly humanizing tale of the life behind the lawsuit, it also suffers greatly from Sweeney's narrow focus on his subject's theatrical bent and "deathbed confession."

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. She is one ugly ultra white trash woman, and that has nothing to do with the abortion debate. I recorded it, and it was about 5 minutes of episode and 4 minute of commercials in the first hour; which killed the flow, and that is a big part of my bad rating. It was interesting that she never got an abortion. Full Review »
