In a sense, Black Summer is The Walking Dead without all the bloated melodrama, kooky villains, and pretentious blabbering.
Nothing is less terrifying than over-familiarity, and that’s only one of the many problems with Netflix’s Black Summer (premiering on April 11), a bleak, dull affair that mistakes camera movement for narrative energy and has about as much life as the walking dead.

I really liked The Walking Dead, but I absolutely love Black Summer. It's presented in a vignette structure similar to Tarantino movies, which enables the creators to jump to the next exciting bit rather than spend lots of time on transitions. The story is told primarily through relentless action rather than characters talking about stuff that doesn't matter that much. There is an emphasis on realism rather than Hollywood storytelling; the writers definitely researched human behavior. No one is safe, and a major character can die at any moment. The zombies are refreshingly dangerous and difficult to contend with.

О сюжете и его завязке говорить не хочется, не это главное в этом кино. Это простое роуд-муви в условиях апокалипсиса. Тут главное, антураж и быстрый темп повествования и развития событий. Основа - главная героиня ищет свою пропавшую дочь. Начну с пары слов о втором сезоне - многие указывают на то, что он оказался скучнее и хуже, чем первый. Но он просто другой. У него иная структура повествования, дробящая сюжетные линии на части и перемешивая их по времени. Концентрация событий будет повыше, чем у первого сезона. Единственно, что не понравилось - это реализация перестрелок между людьми. В реальности, люди стреляют из-за укрытий и никто не идет на прямую, словно в штыковую атаку, стреляя на ходу. Это как один из примеров. Был эпизод, где практически с пяти метров была перестрелка лицом к лицу с минимумом укрытий. И практически, мало пострадавших.
Зомби здесь быстры и опасны, если столкнулся с ними один против двоих, то практически мало шансов выжить. Например, эпизод в кафе, когда герои в количестве пяти человек не могли выбраться из него, т.к. снаружи было всего лишь два зомби, но и этого хватало, чтобы получить высокий шанс быть укушенным. Никакое холодное оружие или биты не помогут, только прицельный выстрел в голову, но для этого надо еще попасть в цель. И поверьте, в этом сериале нет метких стрелков, способных по быстро движущей цели нанести один смертельный выстрел. Что добавляет реалистичности.
Кстати, если вспоминать первый сезон, очень понравилась серия, где один из героев в течении целого (!) эпизода, старается спастись от преследующего его зомби и все это снято длинными сценами, практически, одним дублем и при том, сама камера находится как бы за плечом героя, что только придает эмоции нервозности и сопереживания за персонажа. А так, в целом, это качественное кино про зомби. Что редкость в данном жанре в последнее время.

La serie es entretenida y x lo menos hasta el capitulo 5 te mantiene pegado al borde del sillon y podria decir, hasta con el pulso algo acelerado. Sin embargo la califico con 6 x q sinceramente ver zombis tan rapidosssss y con rapidos quiero decir mas rapidos que el magnifico e inigualable Ibrahim Bolt, nose.... como que no convence y ademas cuando las personas mueren en esta serie la coversion a zombie es instantanea es q ni las varitas magicas de las put@$ hadas de Disney son tan eficientes.

If this show was released in 2010 it would have probably won a Grammy. But unfortunately, it wasn’t. It’s just another zombie show in a long line of zombie shows. The first few episodes aren't bad but the zombie apocalypse just doesn't cut it anymore. That and it felt a bit cheap.
