Though the show takes the dancers' work at least as seriously as it takes their relationships, you won't need to know a pliƩ from a pirouette to appreciate the drama, and yes, the touch of class, in Breaking Pointe.
-
The injuries are extreme, the dancing gorgeous, the dancers young and beautiful, and the slogan the best on TV: "Blood, Sweat and Tutus."
-
What separates this cast from just about every other real-ity show is that these people are chasing something larger than themselves, more vital to them than fame or money--that brief moment of perfection onstage, achieved after years of study and practice.
-
The feel is more documentary than "reality" show, which some viewers will appreciate and others won't.
-
This reality show tries to do the same [tap into the endlessly fascinating world of ballet], following Salt Lake City's Ballet West, but it doesn't bring much new drama to the table.
