It’s entertaining, mainly because all the characters are just so darn likable. Earl, particularly, is a hoot.
The dialogue is sharply creative, and the jokes are fresh and funny, even if the characters border on the insufferable.
It may not be that remarkable--frankly, it’s quite forgettable--but the show has promise.
Cooper Barret is more enjoyable as a comedy about a group of friends than a bro-tastic survival guide for clueless millennials. If the show can figure that out, it might have something more to teach us.
Aggressively stumbles along without leaving any lasting footprints.
In addition to boasting a needlessly wordy title, Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life is a generally frantic effort, failing to settle on a structure or rhythm over the four episodes sent to critics and, despite some wholly appealing performances at its center, never finding its voice.
Nothing about this sitcom is clever or amusing.
