The new season of Fargo shows TV-making at its most impressive, with every single aspect--the writing, the acting, the directing, the cinematography, the music, the set design--spot on and in sync.

This series is perhaps the easiest 10/10 I've ever given. The writing, characters, cinematography, and plot, were all perfectly well done. It was equal parts riveting and unsettling. The offbeat nature of the beginning made for an excellent setup for the entire series. This was an incredibly unique experience. Disclaimer I have not seen series 4 yet. However even if series 4 is bad, the first 3 stand on their own.

It’s a painful journey, but one that’s always proven rewarding. The first episode of Season 3 has given us no reason to think it won’t be worth the torment again.
Noah Hawley’s show has had some rocky seasons, but it finds itself this year by really going back to not just similar plot points but taking that idea of toppling dominos almost to a national level.
Fargo is significantly better than the disappointing third season, though probably not as good as the near-perfect second season.
I had no trouble watching nine hours of the new series at a sitting, except for the sitting. ... Because criminals dominate the action, the story seems not so much morally complex as unfocused, and because there are so many storylines competing for air, including one involving Jessie Buckley as a nurse with bad habits (and a Minnesota accent to honor the franchise), the show robs some promising characters of screen time.
Earlier iterations of Fargo drew a lot of their power from a wide ensemble of curious people. Here, every introductory quirk is immediately annoying. ... It doesn’t help that, as the two characters with most prominence on their respective sides, Schwartzman and Rock are giving two flavors of bad performance.
This is the best tv has ever been. The most creative, visually pleasing and awesome to listen to because of it's soundtrack show i have ever watched. This is better than breaking bad at it's peak, and for me that is a big deal.

Juno Temple is excellent. Why did boring, tired, call-in-his-lines John Hamm get nominated for a Golden Globe and June Temple did not? John Hamm did not bring an edge to the game. Jennifer Jason Leigh overacted with an odd accent. Not rooted in the geo. Perhaps, the backstory should have had her migrate to the area from the South. Hmh.

For S1 S2 and S3 it would have been an undoubted 9-10 an I was happy to hear after S3, that the next season would be not rushed just to keep the show running, but done only when a Fargo worth story would be pitched. They could have waited with the season for another year or two... S4 is a tired and all too predictable reprise of an all out clusterf**k between weirdos from gangs, police, business and other bizarre characters. Despite being overstretched, it still manages to wrap a solid story and make a kind of historical point.

Season 4: All I can say is what happened? The Fargo series 1-3 reached silver screen levels of cinematic storytelling, this is something totally different, totally inferior. Fargo series 4 is far too consumed with race and politics to tell a compelling story. This wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for the fact that it has nothing new to say on race or political issues. I'll stick to rewatching 1-3

"Fargo" (S01, 10 eps, 1hr) is a "true story" melodrama that starts with multiple murders - including local law - in sleepy/tiny Bemidji, Minnesota. So I tried, and no, this type of show isn't for me. Besides the rampant sociopathic murdering, ironically it's a dull, slow paced story I couldn't sit through even if the plot was different. And I know this because I tried similar sleepers "The Old Man", "Night Sky", and "Outer Range". Jeez, aren't we all just starving for streamers these days, but damn if it's not the hardest thing to find the gems.
