Inventive and frequently hilarious. ... Future Man has a firm grasp of what it is and where it’s going. Coupe and Wilson excel as goal-fixated warriors from the future without any social graces while Hutcherson shines as a nebbish who both talks them down and strives to keep his own heart from beating off the charts.

The characters are appealing and their story, through all its ridiculous twists and turns, genuinely involving; even when you know where it's going, it's a treat to get there. For all the mayhem that occurs along the way, the show is good-hearted and aspirational and steeped in family feeling.

Future Man is a conventional sitcom, despite the projectile vomiting and relentless penis jokes. The cast is serviceable, and Ms. Coupe is more than that. But the central joke--that the initially hapless Josh is not at all what the future was hoping to find--is a good one, and it keeps paying off.

With that many hours to fill [13], and that much talent behind and in front of the camera, the show might have chosen to make a broader statement on video game culture. As is, the show is like a fun game you can immerse yourself in, but not one that goes to the next level.

In Future Man, it bounces amusingly along for a while and suddenly becomes weirdly sci-fi serious. In the third episode, “A Riphole in Time,” there’s a plot twist that makes you wonder what you signed up for. Still, Future Man is intriguing enough to keep you going, but I wouldn’t call it one to binge.

Future Man is escapism through and through, but all those references can sometimes work against it. They remind audiences of what came before and invite a comparison that rarely works in the series’ favor.

Mostly lame, but also good-natured, with an amusing finale.

Yes the humour is out there, but if you get the jokes and the constant references made in the show along with the crazy lines and plot without taking everything so seriously then you will binge watch Future Man.

I really dislike Hulu for all sorts of good reasons, but was convinced to take on a trial membership for this show. The writing and the actingI really dislike Hulu for all sorts of good reasons, but was convinced to take on a trial membership for this show. The writing and the acting are really unbelievably good. It's funny in a bro sort of way, but maintains a really good balance between wit, outrageousness and nostalgia.

Ended up binging through the series in one night, which I've not done in years.

Lots of gags and yeah a bit of low brow humor but the show does not take itself too seriously and neither should you. There was a couple of slower moments but as a whole I enjoyed the first season and laughed harder than I have in a long time while watching anything else on Hulu.

It's a fun show with a little bit of gross out humor, over the top violence at times, and no the whole logic of the time traveling is hardly understandable which the characters in the show admit to all the time.

An excellent overall effort that was highly enjoyable. Wolf is by far my favorite. I'm a fan of Future Man and I will be hoping for a second season.

Loved Eliza Coupe in "Happy Endings" but she did a 180° character turn here, not sure I like that casting choice but all the others work well. The show's trailers note that they're throwing time-traveling tropes to the wind so be sure to check your attitude on the paradoxes that inevitably pop up. They make knowing references to Back to the Future, and the Terminator films. It's more comedy than drama so keep that in mind. Several of the episodes are really memorable: the end of episode 6 is incredibly "mind blowing", yes there's a pun there. Episode 7 is over-the-top celebrity worship of James Cameron, but in a humorous way, that one episode is worth everything. There's a few episodes that feature the raw intensity of "Wolf" in the 80s and those are great too. The season finale pretty much ties the storyline up but leaves a foot-in-the-door for a next season if that happens. Finally, this is definitely an R-rated series mainly for sexual references and content but it's not that way in every episode, maybe a third or so of the 13 eps. Expand

In my opinion this is a barely average TV serial, and does nothing remarkable. The writing was OK, the effect where OK, and the humor was OK as well, the only thing that excelled was the actors performances in some instances. Considering that this was a Comedy first and Sci-fiction after, the humor is pretty much hit or miss. Some times it feels right on spot and it's funny and some times it's just cringe. What I definitely liked about the characters that you can genuinely see them develop over the episodes, and plot itself has a few twists and turns which is welcomed with warmth. Overall, it was decent series, worth checking out if you have a lot of time on your hand (pun intended), also take in to consideration that it takes 2-3 episodes for the story to really take on and to empathize, with the characters which in my opinion is a LOT. A poorly thought out lack luster show. They could have done better, but fell short by not really caring.
