Idiotsitter is a comedy built on a familiar foundation, but a) there’s nothing wrong with that, and b) never is this show content with resting on it.
Idiotsitter is raucous and loose (the signature Comedy Central outtake end tag shows how much riffing is involved), but also a very promising vehicle for Bell and Newhouse.
For all the self-protective aggressiveness and passive aggressiveness on display, Idiotsitter is tender at its core and toward its characters.
Idiotsitter, a smartly crass comedy, plays like a treatment for a wacky buddy-movie, shrunk to a smaller scale for TV.
Idiotsitter comes equipped with a more developed situation and thematic framework than usual for this genre--it’s partly a satire of the 1 percent, in which Gene and her family are well-meaning narcissists of varying levels of shrewdness.
Based on a preview of two episodes, Idiotsitter is fairly amusing.
The talent involved is enough to ensure that Comedy Central’s latest is vaguely amusing, but Idiotsitter should have been more riotous than amiable, more uniquely ruthless than blandly juvenile.
