Here's what Insatiable is not: an exercise in fat-shaming or any other teenage caste cruelty. Sure, Patty gets mocked and abused, but the kids who engage in that behavior are unambiguously treated as villains, and they don't fare well. And Patty's acts of vengeance mostly seem heroic, even when they are patently misanthropic. Everybody who ever suffered shunning or scorn at the hands of a high-school social overlord will be raising a fist in solidarity.
Patty is important--but she’s not Insatiable’s main dish. Strangely and crucially, her viewpoint often gets lost, ignored or brushed aside, at least in the early episodes. The focus of this dark comedy is Bob Armstrong (Dallas Roberts).

Insatiable makes “Norbit” feel like a comedic masterpiece, and in 2018, there’s nothing noble about that distinction.
Insatiable is trite, way over the top (even for a series that appears to be trying to go there for comedic effect), unfunny and, running at 40-plus minutes per episode, a bloated mess that's labor-intensive to get through.
So many problems plague Netflix’s original series it’s only option is the scrap heap, where a few spare parts can be salvaged to sustain other functioning vehicles.
It turns out the show is not as bad as you imagined. It’s actually worse. Like, worse in ways that you can’t even anticipate. Insatiable is impressive in its capacity offend a vast array of ideologies, including the notion that TV in 2018 should really be a hell of a lot smarter and more nuanced than this. On top of all that, it’s a freakin’ narrative mess.
The show specializes in the easiest forms of scripted cruelty and snark. The fat-shaming, such that it even exists, is brief and nowhere nearly as harmful as the middling idiocy of the entire effort. That’s my review and also a scolding: If you’re watching this, you really need better things to do.
insatiable is supposed to be offensive. It is not supposed to be woke. Critics think they are supposed to be woke, and that they can be woke by finding offense and scorning it. Congratulations critics, you've found the broad side of a barn yard, your woke. Now leave so the rest of us can enjoy a fun show that is supposed to push a few buttons. Its from a writer off Dexter, so whoever was expecting a heartfelt exploration of body issues face by an innocent girl needs to call up Dr. Phil and invite him over for popcorn and Juno. This show is nihilism as social commentary, it is not finding Dory rewritten to speak to pressing social issues about how bad Seaworld is. This is a show about bad parents and flawed people, not about how screenwriters are going to save the world by tackling social issues until we reach utopia. This show is a lot like Dexter or Fight Club with violence or Curb Your Enthusiasm with offensiveness, but I guess the producers missed the memo from popular critics that only shows with male leads are allowed to be nihilistic and offensive. Shows with female leads have a duty to play first lady and be a healthy body image campaign. Maybe those critics are not so woke after all.

Insatiable is fun to watch but lacks direction. The story sometimes didn't have any sense at all but that doesn't mean its a bad show, it's just a normal one.

It doesn't matter if it's based on true life or not, someone should have stopped this misproduced, unfunny, broad mess from reaching the airwaves. Absolutely reprehensible shock value "comedy" that fails to live up to excellent performers like Arden Myrin.

Really not worth it! bad acting, bad story line and as if the producer trying to take everything related to LGBT, body image, mariage expectations, ... and tugged in all in one story without any conductive thread . I'm all about the use of tv shows to raise awareness about certain issues but this one didn't do it right, even the idea of loving yourself as you are isn't really there on the show to make girls to feel good about themselves, it's more "you were fat people hated you, you were bullied, and now you lost weight people start noticing you you are getting all the pretty boys and even though you still feel bad about your body it s a beauty pageant that it is going to make everything better! I mean i watched it because debby ryan is in it but didn't really enjoy it as much!
