The humor is genuine; the laughs plentiful.

Life in Pieces offers some very good reasons to walk on the wild side and let the laughs come without any in-show inducements. Whether that’s still asking too much is one of the new season’s more intriguing open questions.

With its sharp writing and a uniformly fine cast, this show about lives in pieces is impressively, entertainingly whole.

It’s difficult to get much of a clear sense of the characters. Still, it’s an excellent cast who bring their own strengths to the roles.

While the first episode of Life in Pieces ... doesn’t immediately inspire the same confidence as [Modern Family] does, what it does have in common with it is a big, ludicrously talented cast who elevate the pilot material in ways that a lesser ensemble couldn’t have managed.

There may be bits and pieces of Life in Pieces that you enjoy, but the generic, utterly expected whole it amounts to may not encourage you to stick around for more.

Separately, the Short family members are worthy of a glimpse and can garner a chuckle. Together, they’re abrasive and unlikable.

Not sure why everyone doesn't love it. The acting and writing is great. The 4 short story concept is great too. We are left wishing the show wasn't over .. The half hour goes so fast. My husband and I laugh to tears and not many shows do that. Hopefully it stays around a long time. Expand

Situation comedies on television are usually painful to watch. There are some exceptions, "Mom" being for me one notable exception. I feelSituation comedies on television are usually painful to watch. There are some exceptions, "Mom" being for me one notable exception. I feel quite comfortable in adding "Life in Pieces" to this very short list. Though there is often an element of silliness in the show, I find that the mini-plots very nicely satirize real life, either experienced or thought about. My major complaint with the show is its 30 minute length. I think I would be happier with 60 minutes, but there is something definitely to be said for the very short time spans of the individual "pieces". Set the scene, a pretty quick punch, and get out while you're still funny. Expand

It is fairly funny, very watchable, fairly intelligently written. The cast is made up of some good comedic and dramatic actors, including Colin Hanks, James Brolin, Betsy Brandt, and Thomas Sadoski. Zoe Lister-Jones is probably the funniest, with great, deadpan delivery. It's a nice ensemble comedy fit into a 30-minute format. The pilot was very funny, the second episode a disappointment, but the following episodes have shown potential. Expand

This is the most stupidest show ever. What's with all the sexual stuff? This is not a comedy for prime time. I'll never watch this show. JustThis is the most stupidest show ever. What's with all the sexual stuff? This is not a comedy for prime time. I'll never watch this show. Just like Two and Half Men (thank goodness that one is over with), this show sucks big time. I give it a big FAT ZERO. Who thought this up? They should be fired and never allowed to work again in TV. Send them to the porn channel if you must. And I'm no prude BTW. Expand
