The humor is genuine; the laughs plentiful.
The cast is a sturdy gang of seasoned pros (it’s particularly pleasing to see Wiest in a comedy). And though they’ve probably got nothing new under the sun to tell us about family dynamics, sentimental moments and delicate rites of passage, they seem like nice people to have around for a few laughs.

Awesome!! - Like a "Modern Family" except with (4) five minute skits featuring different family members. PLUS NO LAUGH TRACK OR STUDIO LAUGH! - which ruins most ALL sitcoms (Exceptions: Seinfeld) A++

SEASON 1
I LOVE this show, can't wait to see each episode. I find it moves along nicely with the different storylines.. just love James Brolin, Dianne Wiest and the entire cast. Funny funny! A must see.

The multiple sub-stories would feel gimmicky if it weren’t for the solidly crisp and sprightly writing and winning performances by the entire cast.
It’s difficult to get much of a clear sense of the characters. Still, it’s an excellent cast who bring their own strengths to the roles.
While the first episode of Life in Pieces ... doesn’t immediately inspire the same confidence as [Modern Family] does, what it does have in common with it is a big, ludicrously talented cast who elevate the pilot material in ways that a lesser ensemble couldn’t have managed.
It’s not as well done and not nearly as funny or relatable [as Modern Family].
Separately, the Short family members are worthy of a glimpse and can garner a chuckle. Together, they’re abrasive and unlikable.
Well written and hilarious! Both acting and writing deserves a 10, glad it's finally back. Definitely deserves a much higher score, everyone should watch, one of the better sitcoms out there.

I wasn't wild about the concept for this show, but I was pleasantly surprised by the pilot. Was it great? Not hardly. But it was passable, which is a step up for recent new comedies. It was four short stories, and the middle two were actually pretty amusing. But the first and last were hard to watch. That makes the show a toss up at this point.

I didn't finish watching the first episode. But it did seem very generic. The humor was stale even if the story-telling was not per se. Also, there seems to be this idea that saying words dealing with genitalia is somehow funny, like those words are still taboo or something.

I found this show to be a little boring and not very funny. It felt way longer than 30 minutes. Don't think I'll continue watching this one. I don't see how so many people find it hilarious. To each their own!

Awful. The ugly step brother of Modern Family. Terrible characters, bizarre storylines. Just dreadful.
The pilot felt much longer than it actually was. This won't be on my watch list thats for sure.
