With each episode clocking in around 25 minutes, “Mulligan” is a breezy chronicle of the wacky misadventures of this hapless bunch, who often manage to make things worse when that didn’t even seem possible. It’s relatively slight but reliably funny.
Mulligan is derivative. You can’t avoid that truth. But it shows some promise, and is just funny enough to warrant your attention for another episode or three.
Mulligan is one of Netflix's newest adult animated comedies (newest for at least the next 2 weeks) that's not me badgering the show, more badgering Netflix than anyone else.
Moving on Mulligan came out about a month ago as of writing and honestly, I got bored so I wanted to give the show a fair shot the best thing I can say about the show is that the core pieces could result in a really good and enjoyable show given the correct writes and people who actively care about the project and luckily that show did happen! it's called Inside Job which was canceled by Netflix on a cliffhanger and I'm targeting this series in particular with that jab because if you look at the Twitter comment for any Netflix animated show you'll usually see (WhY dId NeTfLiX gReEnLiGhT tHiS gArBaGe BuT nOt AnOtHeR sEaSoN oF "Really good show") But I'm not under that opinion for most show's but for Mulligan, I'm going to give it some **** because the pieces and characters in the show are very similar to inside job but without the charm from that show, Lovable idiot in a suit show comes off as a cardboard box at first but you see later on in the show that he's an insecure wreck of a person, Female Scientist who's tired of idiots up top stomping all over her and her inventions while appearing as an emotional and tired wreck throughout most of the show but by the end "tries" to face their problems hell even the basic concept is simmular, A disfunction group of diverse and diffrent try to run the world and almost destroy it every episode
without going on any longer to put it simply The show has all the right pieces to be a good show but that show was already made and even with that it still fumble's the bag
the series does set itself up for a season 2 which I would be interested to see but only if it tries to steer itself away from inside job to become its own thing.
Unfortunately, as it goes for recent new entries into the "adult-oriented" funimation, this one is a dud - the art style is mediocre and only undermined by the below-IQ80 storyline and "forced humor" evident in every 2nd scene. It was a great time with Netflix pumping out the originals that really were "original" in the sense of the word, but it gets oh-so-sad when it's only original because no one else funded the manure pile offered and hence "channel exclusivity" is the key factor here.
The good thing I want to say about it: they really tried to be original, but their writing and level of low-hanging rotten fruit approach to humor is just not doing it for me.
It all adds to a comedy that feels like homework, wading through a dated aesthetic to arrive at a series of depressing scenarios powered by a negative, if all too plausible, view of humanity. ... It’s reaching for laughs. But it doesn’t quite grasp those either.
Absolutely horrible. It’s insane Netflix keeps green lightning these adult comedies that don’t make me laugh for episodes straight. This show plays out like it was written by two 16 year olds with no clue on plot structure or pacing. What a waste of my time.
this is somehow worse than the other terrible Netflix animation shows. It is so bad it's not worth watching, even if you're actually dying of boredom. Terrible, terrible show with no redeeming qualities.
