The show makes good use of its New Orleans setting and the script hits all the right, albeit familiar, notes.

There's enough detail in the setting and characterization to keep it distinct from the mothership, but also more than enough of the template (down to the freeze-frame tic at the open and close of each act) to make it go down like a comforting plate of crawfish etouffee.

[Bakula and Pounder] should make the process of watching--or chore of watching, depending on your appetite for more of this formula--just a little more agreeable.

The cast has easy chemistry, the New Orleans setting is colorful, and Pounder lends class to anything she does. The CBS procedural formula works, but that doesn't make it feel any less formulaic.

NCIS: NO is set and shot in Louisiana's signature city, providing a visual and cultural richness that will help set the show apart. More than the writing does, anyway, at least initially.

For some viewers this sameness will be like slipping on a comfy pair of slippers; for others NCIS: New Orleans might be too much the same.

It all ends in thoroughly predictable fashion--and without any zip or pop.

However, I have never really liked NCIS: LA. I am not really sure why I like it so much and for such a long time. (I tired ages ago of Law and Order.) At any rate, I watched and enjoyed NCIS NOLA last night. However, NOLA was definitely a little too clean. I have been to NOLA many times and this NOLA is missing some of the grime and may I say aroma of the city. It looked more like a travel commercial. I am hoping that it gets a little grittier and picks up some of the New Orleans that you read about in James Lee Burke's novels. I am positive Scott Bakula can handle the acting. I have always thought he was under-rated. Expand

Let New Orleans be New Orleans. Let Bakula be himself. Cump the corny accent. Let the STORIES carry this series, and it might have a chance.

TheThis show has several faults beginning with the writing which is absolutely horrible. The dialogue reminds me of a grade school play. The actors are okay at best, but the accents are silly. The only things of merit are the plot lines which actually believable.

Lucas Black repeatedly acts as if he has been caught by his Mom reading dirty books. Scott Bakula just does not portray an individual of authority as Agent in Charge. Zoe McLellan is the only one worth keeping, and should transfer to the D.C. unit to join Gibbs and Company.

    I'm done with New Orleans.

Just a clone of NCIS. Producers seem to keep trying to boost the ratings by insinuating the regular cast of NCIS. Tuned into episode tonight any Tony from NCIS appears. The plots are mediocre and most of the characters are rip offs from NCIS: Too much emphasis on New Orleans as a backdrop and the fake Southern accents are contrived. Sorry, CBS, I love you, but you are straining our relationship. How about something ORIGINAL? Expand

The characters and the actors' performances SUCK! Their accents are unbelievable and the story line is a constant disappointment. I have turned to USA and TNT for Tuesday night entertainment. Scott Bakula? Really? He has a string of failures behind him. Don't ruin what could be at least a mediocre production by putting him in the lead role.
