Season 1 Review: Outer Banks slots many of its characters into specific boxes and keeps them there. The series’ lack of nuance sometimes takes away from the emotional stakes, but it still does manage to craft a very exciting mystery-thriller with touches of teen romance. Season 1 Review: Characters spend a lot of time convincing us, and each other, of their beautiful-loser bona fides. But any dramatic shortcomings will be overlooked by those attracted to the show’s basic premise: young people living unsupervised, on the margins of society, but who still get to behave like they have a team of lawyers on retainer. ... Loved the cast but the show is overall too cliched and over-reliant on tropes like the preppy rich kid versus the bad boy trying to steal his girlfriend. Also awkwardly paced, with the majority of the season dragging and the last few episodes covering too much in too short a time frame. I found it quite clinging yet annoying. Some of the decisions they make are excruciatingly annoying. You find treasure, you naturally bag it. when pope fell sick, they all naively went with him without leaving at least two of them to secure the Cross, to ensure what happened to the goldI found it quite clinging yet annoying. Yet when they were stranded in the forest, two went to get a recue vehicle and some stayed with the van. You naturally stay with treasure, not abandon it after all the struggle experienced in finding it. That emptied reality from the story and left me angry. couldn't watch beyond 2/9.
