By taking the time to unpack the very real racial tensions in Chicago, permitting Tommy to do what he does best and illustrating the varied characters more intimately, “Force” has hit its stride.
The show is high-octane entertainment and it gets a lot right — about how segregated the city is, and also how insular. ... It’s Tommy — and by extension, Sikora — who is shouldering everything that’s interesting about “Force.”
Power Book IV: Force is the Power sequel that’s got the loosest connection to the parent show’s universe. In fact, it sets itself up as a pure spin-off. But It does a good job of showing who the power players are in its story, and how Tommy Egan is ready to shake up the status quo.
