Happily, in spite of the plot labyrinth that any conspiracy theory naturally creates, Salvation keeps its story understandable and makes us keep wanting to know what happens next.
The initial two hours move along at a fairly crisp pace, complete with skulking and several close calls but next to nothing spent on special effects.

We subscribed to Netflix specifically to watch this series. It's almost a 9 out of 10 IF you go into it with the right expectations. It isn't properly finished (cancelled after season 2), but you can imagine what comes next. What it delivers is two seasons of good SF in the traditional Campbellian sense: the smartest and most enterprising members of mankind pitted against each other and a planetary-scale crisis. It's the kind of human ingenuity vs the forces of the cosmos story that is rarely done well nowadays. Of course it's very American, but if you accept it for what it is, it's a journey worth taking.

Well, always on the lookout for an interesting series to watch and ran across Salvation. The first episode was decent and the next evening I chose the second and third episodes over some other choices. The characters are interesting and very easy on the eyes. Sure the plot is a stretch but so what? Not uncommon among sci-fi political dramas. Interesting sub-plots to spice things up a bit, and excellent cinematography. Looking forward to more episodes. As for the critics, those people are not to be trusted. They probably thought that the actors were too good looking. There critiques are based on what kind of mood their overweight dismal selves happen to be in at the time. A lot of the time, anyway. I was thinking 7.5 but will round it up to an 8 to give the critics the finger.

Salvation is one of those series where what you see is exactly what you get, so for viewers seeking unchallenging thrills, it works. The world may be ending, but at least it’s doing so in a comfortingly familiar way. And that feels fine.
The pilot had more holes than a piece of Swiss cheese.

There isn’t a single memorable performance anywhere in Salvation, although, to be fair to the cast, with a script this perfunctory, escaping with one’s dignity intact is job no. 1 anyway. There is no direction to speak of, just shots of people saying lines, all cut together as chaotically as possible.
In truth, the bi-ped hamsters of Big Brother offer a more realistic view of humanity than this unbelievable new disaster-drama series.
The first season was a good start. It opened an interesting journey. The characters were interesting as well. An overall mystery drives the story. However, it was completely ruined by what follows. The huge plot twist that ultimately happens was completely predictable. As a side note, the technology as it is shown in this show is completely unrealistic. This makes the story even less convincing.
