Among the enchanting aspects of “Space Force”, and they’re countless, is its capacity to seem what it decidedly is not. ... Wit-drenched series. ... The series is rich in skilled performances, among them Jimmy O. Yang as the unshakably poised Dr. Chan Kaifang, who steals more than a few scenes, and Noah Emmerich as Gen. Kick Grabaston, Gen. Naird’s enemy. The highest accolades belong, of course, to the writers of this comedy of sparkling
sophistication, chimpanzees included, and wit that runs deep.
Like its sense of humor, the emotional gravity wants to be only modest. “Space Force” is good, or good enough, with what matters most to it.

Space Force is a comedy with heart — the characters are flawed but endearing people being asked to accomplish ridiculous or, sometimes, impossible things and having to figure out how to do the right thing without losing their jobs. It’s sweet and funny, and I cared about every single storyline in season one.
There’s no slapstick, no one-off jokes crammed into the story for the sake of trying to appeal to everyone: just some really beautiful storytelling and the character-based humor that arises from very human characters in conflict.
I loved the friendship that developed between Naird and Mallory — Steve Carell and John Malkovich have an intriguing chemistry. The interactions between Chan and Ali are adorable, too, as are Erin and Alabama. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I won’t say more, except that this show delights me, and I can hardly wait for season two!

Carell dilutes his buffoonery with humanity, and Naird is more likeable than he ought to be. There are a few good one-liners. ... But the series struggles to get out from under the biggest joke of all, which is that it is based on a real US government department. It’s material for a sketch, rather than a whole series, and it would be funnier if it wasn’t true.
For all the heft behind it, “Space Force” should be an easy win. Ten episodes later, however, it’s safer to say that “Space Force” is really just okay.
One could almost write the jokes in one’s sleep. Unfortunately, that seems to be precisely what co-creators Greg Daniels and Steve Carell have done with their disappointingly clunky new Netflix comedy series, “Space Force,” which spends a lot of effort just trying to get off the ground. ... To some extent it does [get better], more than midway through this batch of episodes.
There is very little in this comedy that will call forth smirks, never mind laughs — and that’s saying a lot, given the talent involved in the first 10-episode season.
It takes a special kind of project to make Steve Carrell unfunny. ... Think of the Simpsons episode where NASA puts Homer in the cockpit to drum of some PR and hot ink. There’s your damned Space Force. Here’s a comedy for people either desperate for new Office content, or who still find “covfefe” funny.
I liked Space force. Part of me feels people are disappointed because it isn't the office. It has its really warm moments and really fun moments too. It's clearly being satirical but isn't constantly in your face about it and all the talent involve play their characters really well. Just give it a shot and see what you think.

"Space Force" (S02, 7 eps, 1/2hr, Netflix) in its sophomore season comes in with 30% fewer episodes after an 18-month wait, not really confidence inspiring is that? This season is watchable but it has a bunch of complaint points. First, instead of concluding the somewhat exciting season 1 finale, it skips ahead 3-mons to a related inquiry, yawn. Steve Carell keeps the artificially gruff voice of his General character, ugh. We still don't know why wife "Maggie" is in prison for 40-60 yrs (!) but that kind of time means murder-one. A chief complaint I had in season one was that as a comedy it didn't have any jaunty music ala "Curb..." but in the second half of episode 4 they added some! But that was all. Thankfully they did not add a laugh track. I think "facetious" best describes this series in one word, so it's fine to watch when doing other stuff, but if you're focused on it solely and think too much about its implausibilities then you'll be disappointed. So watch it like an episode of "I Dream of Jeannie" because it's really on that same level of silliness.

There’s something about this show that I really like. There’s issues I have with it but overall I enjoy it. It’s has a lot of heart to it and there’s some moments that are just brilliant but near the end of the first season it jumps the shark. I would give this a seven but those sharks.

I honestly can't tell if they were trying to insult POTUS at the expense of the audience, or if they were trying to insult the audience at the expense of POTUS.
What an incredible waste of a (mostly) decent cast.
