You respect the ambition of unspooling this story gradually, but the third episode also retroactively makes the two-part prologue feel even more overextended. This feels like a show struggling to find its heart. But at least Martin-Green gives it a pulse. Read full review

All told, Discovery still has some storytelling kinks to work out with the Klingons, and all the breathless action in the first two episodes didn’t leave a ton of room for character development beyond Burnham. I wouldn't have given this show a 10 if it weren't for all that haters that clearly want a decent show to fail. True score: 7.5-8. Don't listen to the haters, this show is pretty good

The people complaining about "Another show goes PC" are the same people who would have complained about an interracial couple in TOS. Star Trek has always been a progressive show, that shows hope for humanity and displays a world more tolerant and just than the one we live in today. These people probably complained about a female captain in voyager. Probably didn't like DS9 due to the progressive themes in that.

This show is fantastic, and such a breath of fresh air after the dumpster fire that was Star Trek: Enterprise. It is well rounded, with original and creative plot devices. They managed to pay homage to the old, while still creating something new. Every Star Trek after TOS had weak 1st seasons. The characters grow and develop, Sarek's depiction is fantastic. This show's only downfall is that it's on CBS all access. It's wonderful. And by the way, Johnathan Frakes (Commander Riker) directs the second episode of the second season, and I feel like this show is only going to get better. So long as review bombing nay-sayers don't ruin it for the rest of us.

These nay-sayers are just mad there is a gay couple in it and that the main character isn't a captain... They're angry because it isn't the same recycled material over and over again. They only wish to feed their own nostalgia. It's preposterous, and they're probably the same people who think the cliche, recycled (or literally stolen from star trek TNG) story lines, tired tropes and cheap humor in Orville are points of genius. You can watch Orville, that's fine. You don't see anyone review bombing it... Why? Because they don't care. Why are you so offended by it that you've got to spread hate for the sake of it?… Expand

though I will not pay to continue watching this show I will admit I liked the episode I watched of it I had fun watching the action and just having a good time in general I really enjoyed the female lead as well she was fantastic and a good example for young girls and also young boys whenthough I will not pay to continue watching this show I will admit I liked the episode I watched of it I had fun watching the action and just having a good time in general I really enjoyed the female lead as well she was fantastic and a good example for young girls and also young boys when looking for a girlfriend her qualities and values are excellent this is a must watch believe me… Expand

I have tried to like this show but with each passing episode it seems more like miniseries then a journey of discovery, or at least I hope it is a miniseries so it will end before ruining Star Trek forever.

A bad parody of Star Trek. The cartoon "special" effects CGI matches the retarded writing & 2D "acting". Pathetic & laughably awful.

There's a lot of issues with discovery but this was at least watchable and quite enjoyable at times.

Terrible characters, bad acting, boring story, obvious political implications and enforced diversity. But hey, shiny CGI can fix all that, can't it?
Truly an affront to Star Trek.
