Season 4 starts directly were season 3 ended at the best and most intense cliffhanger in Star Trek if not even in TV. This satisfying conclusion alone raised the appreciation for fans and non fans. They succeeded again with this season. They get the character development right and theSeason 4 starts directly were season 3 ended at the best and most intense cliffhanger in Star Trek if not even in TV. This satisfying conclusion alone raised the appreciation for fans and non fans. They succeeded again with this season. They get the character development right and the interactions or development of relationships are something I always enjoyed. Also the quality of the scripts and stories improved from season 3 onward. I like stories that make me think and approaches that show both sides of the coin or problems. It is not black and white morality and I helps to build character if you walked in their shoes even if you disagree. Thanos from the Avengers movies is the prime example including his build up. But back to this season. They hold up a high standard and I will give details without spoilers in my favorites list at the end. There are 4 of my all time favorite episode here with Devils Due, Clues, The Drumhead and The Wounded (Both of two Worlds is so obvious that I don't mention it here).Overall a great season with good episodes and no regrets. My recommendations / favorites are: “Best of both Worlds part 2” you all know it was coming. It is the conclusion from last season. It is intense, threatening with a clever solution. “Family” this has grown on me. In my youth I hated this boring episode. Now older it has become my favorite. You get insight into the damages Picard received and in his family/ past that shape him. “Brothers” sadly I cant tell about this without spoiler. So I will say it is about Data and his relationships. Also it is foreshadowing events and will have implications. “Legacy” for the setting, moral dilemma and the reminder that you have always to be cautious. “Reunion” this is Worf’s episodes. It showed his character and resolve. You can see the greatness of the actor and character. DS9 Worf is one of my favorite characters and here he gets a lot of development. “Data’s Day” this is Data’s episode. He describes in first person a normal day in his life. You get a lot of insights and it has a great story with a good twist. Worth for its story and insight into Data (=Either alone would be one the list). “The Wounded” for the moral dilemma, resolution and insights into Cardassians and Federation. Also it shows how the dogmas of the Federation harms them. They want to avoid war and bloodshed which is praiseworthy but the prize is more bloodshed, more casualties and wars that bring them to their knees (And supporting slavery / genocide. Remember they always could have freed the Bajorans from both during their war with the Cardassian Union). “Devils Due” for the set up, character Ardra, mystery, humor and resolve. A highlight and one of my favorites of the show. “Clues” for the suspense, mystery / detective like story and resolve. A masterpiece in story telling and a top episode of the show. “The Nth Degree” this is Barclays episode. He shines in it and the story is perfectly blend in with his character. “Qpid” for Q the set up and humor. I must mention this one is a weaker Q episode but still great. “The Drumhead” because the problem is a timeless one and it shows that behind an Utopia is an abyss that will devour every accomplishment if you are not careful enough. “The Host” for introducing the Trill (Will be adapted / changed later), LGBT theme and showing how fixed we are in our mindset. “Redemption” for another good cliffhanger, story, menace and bringing back a certain character.… Expand
