It’s hard to assess much of the acting here because most of the actors are confined by a script that swings between harsh judgments and moments of deep sentimentality that almost feel as if they were included to be compensatory. Read full review

A two-night, four-hour mess lacking in dramatic structure or emotional and thematic beats. I know the critics hated this mini-series, but it has much more plot than the movie Jackie, which was just more of what we already know about the Kennedy assassination. Perhaps Matthew Perry isn't the best dramatic actor, but Katie Holmes is charming as Jackie Kennedy, and one gets someI know the critics hated this mini-series, but it has much more plot than the movie Jackie, which was just more of what we already know about the Kennedy assassination. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The premiere is very engrossing and Katie Holmes has matured in her acting since the first miniseries. There are a few flaws, such as Matthew Perry being miscast as Ted Kennedy, but not enough to divert your attention away from the decent storytelling within the time allotted. The finale is an entirely different story. It was a rushed, ridiculous mess and compounding the inanity was the curious omission of Caroline Kennedy as if she wasn't a part of the Kennedy legacy. Every storyline in this finale was presented, then left dangling and on to something else and the vicious cycle started all over again. And without giving away the ending, let me just say that it was laughable, schlocky and someone flying off into the sunset was just much too melodramatic to say anything other than...why? This miniseries needed at least 4 more hours and better writers to do it justice. Sorely disappointed that it didn't live up to the hype. The Kennedys: After Camelot turned into a bad Lifetime TV melange of terrible dialogue, sleepwalking actors, embarrassing visuals and Katie Holmes doing her best to salvage a miniseries that should have never seen the light of day if it couldn't at the very least match the original miniseries which aired in 2011.… Expand

The only thing worth while in this mess is Katie Holmes. She does a great job in the role of Jackie. But Matthew Perry isn't bad... he is horrible. Unwatchable. The original “The Kennedy’s” was a well-written and acted mini-series that deserved the Emmy nominations and awards the show received. “After Camelot” is a major disappointment resembling a third-rate soap opera.
