Watching Fox’s wonderfully creative and ridiculously entertaining new series, The Last Man On Earth, you can’t help but laugh (it’s a comedy--duh), but also be truly and utterly impressed.

If Team Forte can sustain the ingenuity, surprises, and craftsmanship, The Last Man on Earth, a profoundly funny comedy about the least funny of things--loneliness--might live long and prosper.

There is an interesting dynamic of a cast so compact in a setting so large. They literally have the entire world at their disposal.

Last Man on Earth is well-made, polished, odd, surprisingly funny.

I’m not completely sold on The Last Man On Earth as an ongoing enterprise, and I wonder how long audiences are going to stick with it. At the same time, I admire Last Man’s spirit of adventurousness, and hope the show can make good on what is a far bigger conceptual challenge than most sitcoms ever attempt.

It may seem like an "SNL" sketch that's gone on too long, but give it time. The Last Man on Earth could be The One.

Forte himself isn't bad, it should be added. But like the human race when it seems to be down to a single person, the show doesn't feel like it has much of a future.

Seeing the perfectly mismatched cast grope their way toward happiness in the bleak new world of Tucson is a joy every week. The jokes are still decent, but it's hard to watch.
Season 2 feels, oddly enough, exactly the same. It's like they blew their budget making one or two great episodes and still needed to write 8 more on a shoestring.
I find it so hard to mark it down, because that first episode is the funniest approach to the post-apocalyptic genre I've ever seen.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. During the first two episodes, the show had a lot of potential. An episode later, another woman is introduced; Also, if you look at one upcoming episode's title and description, it seems to suggest that Phil isn't truly the last man on Earth as the title says. It appears that the writers are running out of ideas very quickly, and I fear the show is degenerating into just another generic sitcom with an apocalyptic theme. Hopefully that isn't so, but I fear the worst Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ugh, must be hard to create a show like this. Post-apocalyptic stuff is big now so I guess it was inevitable. Key demo must be 14 year old boys. This show steers very hard toward dumb lowbrow. Sometimes I like some "dumb", but this was even too much for me. So many opportunities for good material, instead it quickly turns into Forte breaking stuff and drinking. The male/female jokes are just painful too, makes the Farrelly brother's stuff seem sophisticated. Poor Kristen, you deserve better... Expand
